2018 Board Election

One of the most important ways you can participate as a Member/Owner is to cast your vote to elect members to Harvest Moon’s Board of Directors.  The Board has seven seats with staggered three-year terms.  Each year, either two or three seats open up for election from expiring three year terms.  Each director can serve up to two full consecutive 3-year terms.  If a director resigns mid-year, the Board can appoint someone to fill that seat until the next election when members will be asked to vote to confirm the appointment through the end of the seat’s term.

You are voting to:

  • Fill three open Board seats.  Alvin Berger, an incumbent Board member and 3 new Board candidates (Charlotte Joy Lipa, Diane Malone and Will Bohrnsen) are running for these open seats.
  • Confirm the Board’s 2018 appointment of one director, John Finazzo into a seat with a term expiring in 2020 to replace Board member Jay Malquist who resigned earlier this year

Qualifications of great Board Members include:

  • Passion for and demonstrated commitment to Harvest Moon’s mission
  • Connected to the membership and community and committed to representing the whole membership in a cooperative, collaborative way
  • Good business sense, able to think conceptually and flexibly and ask good questions to help drive the co-op forward
  • A visionary thinker and energetic worker who can both picture and help create the long-term future of the co-op

Each candidate has provided responses to a standard list of questions to help you determine your vote:

All Member/Owners are encouraged to vote in the election (one vote per Member/Owner household).  Our bylaws require a quorum of 50 Member/Owner households for the election to be valid.

Voting Details:

This year will take place primarily through Survey Monkey, but paper ballots will be available at the store October 11-25 and at the Annual Meeting on October 25.  Election results will be announced at the Annual Meeting.
